HEMINGWAYS.org WEB CAMERA

1. Access is currently unrestricted. To access the camera you will need a name and password. Use Name = BARPEEK, Password = trofuaeb (beaufort spelled backward)
2. Pan and Tilt controls are active but remember that camera response can take many seconds depending on interntet access times.
3. When multiple users are on line and moving the camera or too many pan & tilt commands are sent, operation may be erratic.
4. Rather than mutiple moves using the arrows, the "Preset Camera Views" will give fast access to all areas.
5. The quality of the video and sound will vary considerably with the number of viewers (max 20), the speed of your access and Internet congestion.
6. At this stage it will only run on IE. To run it on Firefox you will need to download an IE adapter add-on.
7. You need ActiveX to view the video. If you don't have it you may have to get a free download - Google "ActiveX" to find it.
8. Your windows IE XP may block the Active X control because it is not yet digitally signed. You can add it to your security's trusted sites to run. See how below.
9. The Scan WebScan.GIF - 1931 Bytes and the motion detect Motion.GIF - 2009 Bytes are disabled.
10. I've tried it at 56K dial-up and it works OK except the frame update drops to about 1/10 of the available rate and the sound gets rather choppy.

If you don't get a picture or get a security access problem, this is reported to solve it:-

You must be using Internet Explorer - it is not compatible with Mozilla or Firefox.
Go to TOOLS --> INTERNET OPTIONS --> SECURITY
Then you click on the green TRUSTED SITES circle.
Click the SITES button that appears below/right in that window.
UNCHECK the "require server verification (https) for all sites in this zone" box in the lower left of the window that appears.
Type the cameras URL http://67.77.140.230 in the text box where the insertion point is blinking and click ADD.
Click OK, OK
Now you can access the camera and download and install the required Active X component as needed.
Once the unsigned Active X component has been installed, you can go back and remove the cameras URL from the Trusted Sites area AND put the check back in the box "requiring server verification (https) for all sites in this zone"
